In the game of Klondike Solitaire, your objective is to move all 52 cards into four foundation piles, one per suit, stacked in order from Ace to King. Can you clear the entire deck before you run out of moves?
On the screen above you'll see seven columns of cards (called the tableau), four empty foundation slots in the upper right, and a stock pile in the upper left. Tap a face-up card to select it, then tap its destination to move it. Or, tap the stock pile to draw a new card.
On the tableau, cards must be stacked in descending order and alternating colors — for example, a red 6 on a black 7, or a black Queen on a red King. Only a King (or a sequence starting with a King) can be placed in an empty column.
To move a card, tap it to select it (it will highlight), then tap its destination. You can also move an entire sequence of correctly ordered cards as a single unit. Just tap the highest card in the sequence.
Face-down cards are revealed one at a time as the cards on top of them are moved away. Uncovering these hidden cards is the key to making progress!
When no tableau moves are available, tap the stock pile to draw a new card into the waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is always available to play.
Each foundation pile starts with an Ace and builds up by suit (A, 2, 3… K). Fill all four foundations to win!
You can choose between two levels of difficulty: "Easier" allows unlimited passes through the stock pile, while "Harder" limits you to 3 passes.
Below the gameboard, you'll see an off-menu link to a 3-card draw version of Klondike Solitaire, where three cards are flipped from the stock pile at a time instead of one.
Klondike Solitaire got its name from the Klondike region of Canada, where it was reportedly popular among gold prospectors during the 1890s gold rush.
