Sliding Tiles

Puzzle solved! 🎉

Tap the tile you want to slide.

Objective of Sliding Tiles

In the game of Sliding Tiles, your objective is to put the square tiles into numerical order from left to right, top to bottom. How many moves will it take?

Sliding Tiles' Gameboard

On the screen above you'll see a scrambled grid of numbered tiles. The grid also includes a single empty space in the bottom-right corner. If you tap a tile directly above, beside, or below the empty space, it will slide into that space.

How to Play Sliding Tiles

First, choose a tile to focus on, and decide where you'd like to place it on the grid. For instance, you could start with the "1" tile and choose to place it in the top left corner.

Begin by systematically shifting other tiles in order to move the empty space toward your chosen tile.

Once the empty space is next to your chosen tile, you can start sliding your tile toward its destination.

After you've successfully placed the first tile in the correct spot on the grid, select a second tile, select its destination, and repeat the process.

When all the tiles are in numerical order, return the empty space to the bottom-right corner. That's a win!

Strategic Tips for Sliding Tiles

  • Solve row by row, top to bottom: Complete the top row first, then lock it in and move on to the next. Try not to disturb a row once it's solved.
  • Within each row, work left to right: Get the leftmost tile into place first, then work across.
  • Watch out for the last two tiles in a row: Placing the final two tiles of a row is trickier than it looks. A good technique: position the second-to-last tile in the corner spot, place the last tile directly below it, then rotate them both into place together.

Levels of Difficulty

You can choose between two grid sizes: "Easier" is a 4×4 grid with 15 numbered tiles, while "Harder" is a 5×5 grid with 24 numbered tiles.
